October 14 , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Aliso Woods Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
All off you made the experience extremly fun and safe. What a confident builder. It was by far the best investment I've made since I bought my first mountain bike. I learned a whole lot from just one clinic, it's unbelievable. I can't only feel but now that I'm at the least twice a better rider after the clinic and continue to be better. I can't even put price to it.
Biggest thanks to Joe for making the impossible, teaching me. I've learned so much in just a few hours and feeling safe and confident doing drills and tricks that you showed me.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today?
The most important thing I learned today was how important it is to be in control of your bike, be confident, and above all safety.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? Absolutely, I'll take it again myself.

October 14 , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Aliso Woods Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
Applying the skills we learned from each drill during the actual ride.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today?
To be active on the the bike at all times, not just along for the ride.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? Definitely!
Any other suggestions or comments? Overall it was a great experience. I appreciated the help and input from all three instructors, and the group seemed to gel well. I look for positive influences for my son and this was a definite positive.

What was your favorite part of the clinic?
When Joe caught me before I endo'd on a step up on Rocket! Seriously, the bike setup was great...awesome to have a pro check out your bike and make suggestions, then set it up for you. Really enjoyed Joe...the class was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today?Bike setup and how to do a manual as well as fundamentals of J-hop.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? YES

August 27 , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Aliso Woods Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
I liked learning the skills and then getting to apply them on the ride.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today? Learning how to distribute body weight in different situations seemed to me to be a very important skill to know. Also, learning about how to setup and adjust a bike properly seemed to be key in riding.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? Yes

August 26 , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Aliso Woods Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
All was good. I'm glad we didn't have to waste time doing all the beginner stuff. Usually, I'd be a bit bored with a clinic on bike setup, but Joe was very knowledgeable and explained why for each setup item...made sense and to my surprise, learned some stuff from shock adjustment to tire inflation. Others in the group learned about handlebar setup...that part I already knew. Learning the technique for manualling was my main favorite part.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today? The importance of learning to manual. And how much it is actually used on the trail. And that it is the beginning to learn how to J-Hop...now if I could just get that front tire up higher...gotta work on that.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? Absolutely

August 8 , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Tamarancho Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
The whole thing, from making sure bike was set up correctly to the final photos in the parking lot.
Skill level of instructor and knowledge of his craft-Excellent
Willingness of both Joe and Jason to really share what they know and to put the information in terms a beginner could understand.
What Stands out as the most important thing you learned today? The instruction on how to make tight turns.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders? YES

July , 2006 Trail Riding Clinic - Aliso Woods Instructor: Joe Lawwill
What was your favorite part of the clinic?
Clearing the ledge on Rock-it for the first time.
Would you recommend our clinics to other riders?
Without reservation. The whole experience (except the heat and flats) was excellent.
Any other suggestions or comments?
Joe is excellent. It is a rare privelege for an average rider to get top level instruction from an experienced rider who is such a good teacher. I would suspect that many riders that are as talented as Joe aren\'t able to analyze and teach what they do this well.

Would you recommend our clinics to other riders?
YES
Any other suggestions or comments?

Dear
Joe ,
I just want to reiterate
what a terrific time we all had this afternoon.
We definitely look forward to the next opportunity
to work with you again. I can't believe
what I accomplished today, a peak experience,
I'm still high from the afternoon.
The best to you,

Joe,
Just wanted to drop a quick
line, and say thank you for the class. I
had a great time, and felt like I progressed
immensely. I believe it would've taken me
allot more time to learn what I learned yesterday,
and probably a lot more pain too. I know
I was lacking a smile at the end, but that
wasn't because I was disappointed, it's
due to the fact that I was completely wiped-out.
I am looking forward to
taking my skills to the next level. In fact,
Greg, Jeff and myself are going back to
the Whoops on Mon to keep our skills in
check.
Thank you for the time
and personal touch that made the class that
much more enjoyable.
Again, thank you

Bikeskills
- Joe,
Cool!!!
Thanks again for your help. We went out
to Sandhill yesterday and got some more
practicing in. Thanks again for your help.
You've really given me some techniques to
work on.
All I have to do now is get them into muscle
memory so I can do them more than 1 out
of 30 attempts :-)
Yeah, I had a lot of fun.
Like I mentioned yesterday, I learned
a lot - and you're a lot of fun to ride
with. Trying to
follow you on the downhills was a blast.
It was really
good for picking out lines, seeing where
to pump, etc.
I'm looking forward to
Wednesday's jump clinic at Sandhill...
I had a ball today at the Sandhill Ranch
jumping clinic. Let me know a couple days
before you come back to town. I want to
try to get away to get another round in
before I lose all I gained today.
The program was excellent (in fact possibly
the best sports instruction I have ever
had or at least can remember-- includes
skiing, scuba, water skiing, other mtn biking).
There were some very critical basics that
some may learn or figure out naturally;
but in less it is figured out or affirimatively
taught, the forces are always working against
you. The example I am thinking of is the
attack position, weight on the back pedal
[weak foot], and then applying that into
doing a manual, which I have heard of tried,
but couldn't even come close to doing until
today. There were many other discrete basics
that he taught which he needs to memorialize.

Joe,
I enjoyed taking your clinic last Sunday,
I liked all the great info and the relaxed
and very patient way that you taught and
watched us try the new skills. My mind is
still absorbing all the information that
you taught and I'm looking forward to lots
of happy practicing. I have been riding
a bike all my life but when it comes down
to it I really have allot of room for improvement
and you taught me things that are going
to improve my skill and enjoyment of a great
sport. I'm going to tell people about your
clinics and hope to take another one myself
some time.
Keep up the good work!

Trail Riding Clinic
Bikeskills - Joe Lawwill,
Right on, I had a great time. Now you got
me thinking manual and pump king, gotto
get it down. Your coaster wheelies had me
drooling. I would definitely dig a session
at Sand Hill. I'm all smiles can't wait
'til I can go out and practice my new skills.
Thanks very much! You definitely made my
Monday. I had a lot of fun and you guys
definitely have a good thing going. I feel
like now I know what I'm doing (actually
not doing) with the J-hop, switchback, and
picking my lines through the rough stuff!
(Not the mention the tire selection, and
suspension setup.) I've watched videos and
read books, but nothing comes close to real
person-to-person instruction and feedback.
You've really found a nitch with the teaching.
I'll be telling folks about it here at work,
we've got a few hammerheads who'll want
to know how it went.
Thanks very much for a great time.

Trail Riding Clinic
Hey
guys,
Just wanted to say thanks
for the awesome day yesterday. Chris, thanks
for the tips you gave me, and I can't wait
to take your clinic once I face some of
my personal dirt demons. I watched your
segment again last night in Statement and
I was as blown away as I was the first time
I watched it.
And Joe, thanks for the
awesome ride and instruction. I rarely ride
with other people, so to ride with someone
as talented but at the same time instructive
and helpful (and entertaining!) just added
to the experience. And I promise to work
on my bunnyhops. You're all doing a great
service to the mountainbiking community
and I'm looking forward to contributing
to the program any way I can. Hope to see
you guys soon.

- Joe Lawwill:
Thanks for the memorable time. Riding with
a advanced rider like JL sure was fun and
allowed me to aspire better handling maneuvers
for what makes mountain biking thrilling.
It reinforced skills already known but forgotten
(such as not staring at obstacles where
you don't want to go which can lead to unwanted
collisions and cracked helmets) and learned
new skills, that will at the very least
accomplish safer riding if not more advanced
riding. Although our first day provided
us with unfavorable weather, the "ground
school" lessen component was informative
and helpful--who knew tires were so important.
Keep up the good work. Later.

I was very pleased with
the organization and quality of instruction.
I learned some very valuable info which
will make me a better, safer rider. I would
like to schedule another one on one session
ASAP.
